<p><b>Alveolar glands</b>, also called <b>saccular glands</b>, are <a href="page.php?w=Gland">glands</a> with a saclike secretory portion, in contrast with <a href="page.php?w=Tubular_gland">tubular glands</a>. They typically have an enlarged <a href="page.php?w=lumen_%28anatomy%29">lumen</a> (cavity), hence the name: they have a shape similar to <a href="page.php?w=Pulmonary_alveolus">alveoli</a>, the very small air sacs in the lungs.</p>
