<p>A <b>lockstitch</b> is the most common mechanical <a href="page.php?w=stitch_%28textile_arts%29">stitch</a> made by a <a href="page.php?w=sewing_machine">sewing machine</a>.  The term "single needle stitching", often found on dress shirt labels, refers to lockstitch.</p>
