<p>A <b>social norm</b> or <b>norm</b> is a shared standard of <a href="page.php?w=acceptance">acceptable</a> behavior by a group. Social norms can both be informal understandings that govern the behavior of members of a <a href="page.php?w=society">society</a>, as well as be codified into <a href="page.php?w=wikt%3Arule">rule</a>s and <a href="page.php?w=law">law</a>s.
