<p>In <a href="page.php?w=linguistics">linguistics</a>, a <b>deponent verb</b> is a <a href="page.php?w=verb">verb</a> that is <a href="page.php?w=active_voice">active</a> in meaning but takes its <a href="page.php?w=morphology_%28linguistics%29">form</a> from a different <a href="page.php?w=grammatical_voice">voice</a>, most commonly the <a href="page.php?w=middle_voice">middle</a> or <a href="page.php?w=passive_voice">passive</a>. A deponent verb has no active forms.</p>
