<p>The <b>effective temperature</b> (aka <b>ET</b>) of a body such as a <a href="page.php?w=star">star</a> or <a href="page.php?w=planet">planet</a> is the <a href="page.php?w=temperature">temperature</a> of a <a href="page.php?w=black_body">black body</a> that would emit the same total energy as <a href="page.php?w=electromagnetic_radiation">electromagnetic radiation</a>.
