<p>In general, an <b>imaginary line</b> is usually any sort of <a href="page.php?w=line_%28geometry%29">geometric line</a> (more generally, <a href="page.php?w=curve_%28geometry%29">curves</a>) that has only an <a href="page.php?w=abstraction">abstract</a> definition and does not physically exist. They are often used to properly identify places on a <a href="page.php?w=map">map</a>.</p>
