On 3 June, Israel and Lebanon reached an agreement to renew the ceasefire, facilitated by the US, and to create "pilot zones". On 4 June, Hezbollah rejected the deal that was reached between Lebanese and Israeli authorities in Washington, D.C., demanding instead a full ceasefire combined with a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon. Berri suggested a simultaneous withdrawal of Hezbollah and Israeli forces from the area south of the Litani, coupled with a full ceasefire.
