It is equivalent to the army rank of Colonel (OF-5). In both cases, the rank is above Capitan-comandor (, OF-4). In the air force, Comandor is below the rank of [[General de flotila aeriana]] , while in the navy it is below Contraamiral de flotila . The rank was also used in the Royal Romanian Air Force and Navy until the proclamation of the Republic.
