<p>In everyday language, it is sometimes used to exaggerate the perceived danger of certain chemicals. The 16th-century physician <a href="page.php?w=Paracelsus">Paracelsus</a> (1493-1541), regarded as the father of <a href="page.php?w=toxicology">toxicology</a>, famously stated: "Everything is poison, there is poison in everything. <a href="page.php?w=The_dose_makes_the_poison">Only the dose makes a thing not a poison</a>."
