Rural areas are any place outside a municipality's urban development (buildings, streets) and it is carried by informal usage. Otherwise, countryside (interior in <a href="page.php?w=Portuguese_language">Portuguese</a>) are officially defined as all municipalities outside the state/territory capital's metropolitan region.
