<p>A caltrop has a variety of symbolic uses and is commonly found as a <a href="page.php?w=Charge_%28heraldry%29">charge</a> in <a href="page.php?w=heraldry">heraldry</a>. For instance, the Finnish noble family Fotangel (<a href="page.php?w=Swedish_language">Swedish</a> for 'caltrop') had arms gules, three caltrops argent.</p>
