<p>Convective rainbands can form parallel to terrain on its <a href="page.php?w=windward">windward</a> side, due to <a href="page.php?w=lee_wave">lee wave</a>s triggered by hills just upstream of the cloud's formation.  Their spacing is normally 5 km to 10 km apart.
