<p>A collection of disjoint (unconnected) trees is described as a <a href="page.php?w=Forest_%28graph_theory%29_"> forest</a>.  A spanning forest in a graph is a subgraph that is a forest with an additional requirement.  There are two incompatible requirements in use, of which one is relatively rare.</p>
