Nevertheless, Gildas does provide us with an insight into some of the kingdoms that existed when he was writing, and how an educated monk perceived the situation that had developed between the <a href="page.php?w=Anglo-Saxons">Anglo-Saxons</a> and the <a href="page.php?w=Celtic_Britons">Britons</a>.</p>
