It had not been seen again until 1808, when the British sealing captains James Lindsay and Thomas Hopper reached it and recorded its correct position, although they were unable to land. Morrell, by his own account, found the island without difficulty--with "improbable ease", in the words of historian William Mills-- before landing and hunting seals there.
