<p>During June 1978 <a href="page.php?w=Consumer_Electronics_Show">CES</a>, Mattel privately showed a prototype to retailers, leading to a Christmas release. Delays at GI pushed that into 1979. Magnavox backed out as manufacturer, replaced with <a href="page.php?w=Sylvania_Electric_Products">Sylvania</a>. Chandler considered replacing the GI chipset and working with <a href="page.php?w=Texas_Instruments">Texas Instruments</a> and their new <a href="page.php?w=TMS9918">TMS9918</a></p><p>
