In the story Udayasundari-Katha by Soddhala, Dharmapala is said to be a descendant of the Solar dynasty. In the Kamauli inscription issued by Pala minister Vaidyadeva (Later King of Kamarupa kingdom) the Pala rulers are referred to as belonging to the Solar dynasty (Mihiravamsa).According to author Nitish Sengupta, such claims of belonging to the legendary Solar dynasty seems to be unreliable and appear to be an attempt
