<p>A short-lived, seldom-used implementation of ATA was created for the <a href="page.php?w=IBM_Personal_Computer_XT">IBM XT</a> and similar machines that used the 8-bit version of the ISA bus. It has been referred to as <a href="page.php?w=Industry_Standard_Architecture">"XT-IDE"</a>, "XTA" or "XT Attachment".</p>

<p><big> EIDE and ATA-2 </big></p>
<p>In 1994, about the same time that the ATA-1 standard was adopted, Western Digital introduced drives under a newer name, Enhanced IDE (EIDE). These included most of the features of the forthcoming ATA-2 specification</p><p>
