<p>Symphyta is given to Gerstaecker as the <a href="page.php?w=zoological_authority">zoological authority</a>. In his description, Gerstaecker distinguished the two groups by the transfer of the first abdominal segment to the thorax in the <a href="page.php?w=Apocrita">Apocrita</a>, compared to the Symphyta. Consequently, there are only eight dorsal half segments in the Apocrita, against nine in the Symphyta. The larvae are distinguished in a similar way. The Symphyta have therefore traditionally been considered, alongside the Apocrita, to form</p><p>
