While Descartes defends ontological <a href="page.php?w=mind-body_dualism">dualism</a>, thus accepting the existence of a material world (<a href="page.php?w=res_extensa">res extensa</a>) as well as immaterial minds (<a href="page.php?w=res_cogitans">res cogitans</a>) and God, Berkeley denies the existence of matter but not minds, of which God is one.</p>
