Most of the disintegration energy becomes the <a href="page.php?w=kinetic_energy">kinetic energy</a> of the alpha particle, although to fulfill <a href="page.php?w=conservation_of_momentum">conservation of momentum</a>, part of the energy goes to the recoil of the nucleus itself (see <a href="page.php?w=atomic_recoil">atomic recoil</a>).</p><p>
