<p>FMNH<sub>2</sub> + O<sub>2</sub> + R-CHO -> FMN + H<sub>2</sub>O + R-COOH + Light (~ 495&nbsp;nm)</p>

<p>Molecular oxygen reacts with FMNH<sub>2</sub> (reduced flavin mononucleotide) and a long-chain aldehyde to produce FMN (flavin mononucleotide), water and a corresponding fatty acid.
