Of about 600 indigenous names recorded in Aquitania, only one begins with R-, and that one is Gaulish. Iberian and Basque share this restriction, and Basque keeps it to the present. Latin rota(m) gives Basque errota 'mill', and rege(m) gives errege 'king'.</p>
