<p>optical microscopy (ANSOM), also known as scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscopy (s-SNOM), achieves super-resolution imaging through the local enhancement of the optical field near a sharp tip, often made of metal. In ANSOM, a metallic or dielectric probe interacts with incident light, creating a confined and enhanced <a href="page.php?w=electromagnetic_field">electromagnetic field</a> at the apex of the tip due to <a href="page.php?w=localized_surface_plasmon">localized surface plasmon</a> resonance.</p>
