According to Fred Patten, the concept of furry originated at a <a href="page.php?w=science_fiction_convention">science fiction convention</a> in 1980, when a character drawing from Steve Gallacci's <a href="page.php?w=Albedo_Anthropomorphics">Albedo Anthropomorphics</a> started a discussion of anthropomorphic characters in science fiction novels.</p><p>
