<p><a href="page.php?w=Thomas_Middleton">Thomas Middleton</a>'s play <a href="page.php?w=A_Chaste_Maid_in_Cheapside">A Chaste Maid in Cheapside</a> (1613) both satirises and celebrates the citizens of the neighbourhood during the Renaissance, when the street hosted the city's goldsmiths.</p>
