Poxviruses also synthesise DNA replication, and nucleotide metabolism enzymes, in the early phase of viral replication. These earlier genes are similar to the host cells mRNAs, with Poxviruses also synthesising their own 5'-methyl-GTP cap (which is required for host cell mRNA translation into proteins), and 3'-polyA-tail.
