Titanium burns in normal air at temperatures lower than its melting point, so melting the metal is possible only in an inert atmosphere or vacuum. At room temperature, titanium is fairly inert to <a href="page.php?w=halogen">halogen</a>s, but will violently combine with <a href="page.php?w=chlorine">chlorine</a> and <a href="page.php?w=bromine">bromine</a> at 550 °C</p><p>
