<p>water can cause the wood of wrecked ships to rot more quickly than in seawater unless it is deprived of oxygen. Two shipwrecks,  and , have been at the bottom of <a href="page.php?w=Lake_Ontario">Lake Ontario</a> since they sunk during a violent storm on August 8, 1813, during the <a href="page.php?w=War_of_1812">War of 1812</a>. They are in "remarkably good" condition.</p>
