The two most speciose genera are Alpheus and Synalpheus, with species numbering well over 330 and 160, respectively. Most snapping shrimp dig <a href="page.php?w=burrow">burrow</a>s and are common inhabitants of <a href="page.php?w=coral_reef">coral reef</a>s, submerged <a href="page.php?w=seagrass">seagrass</a> flats, and <a href="page.php?w=oyster_reef">oyster reef</a>s.</p><p>
