<p><big>Name</big></p>
<p>The name <b>Maipure</b> was given to the family by <a href="page.php?w=Filippo_S._Gilii">Filippo S. Gilii</a> in 1782, after the <a href="page.php?w=Maipure_language">Maipure language</a> of <a href="page.php?w=Venezuela">Venezuela</a>, which he used as a basis of his comparisons.</p><p>
