Whether at home on CAF bases or abroad on international missions, CFMP, in conjunction with civilian and allied military police forces, protect and support all components of the CAF. As of 2024-2025, the CFMP has an actual trained strength of approximately 1,121 Regular Force and 335 Primary Reserve members.

The international scope of the CAF requires
