and nymphs have a tail of waxy filaments. Of the two sub-families in the Flatidae, the bodies of adult Flatinae are flattened laterally and the tegmina are tent-like (unlike the Flatoidinae, where the body is not laterally compressed and the tegmina are not as tent-like).
