Cut patterns on ancient boards are occasionally observed to bear the unique cutting marks left by <a href="page.php?w=saw_blade">saw blade</a>s, particularly if the wood was not 'smoothed up' by some method. Twenty-four saws from eighteenth-century England are currently preserved.</p>
