Both meanings simply translate as "sea port." The pronunciation shifted through the years, and Langarkunan became Lankaran or, in the even more simple <a href="page.php?w=Talysh_language">Talysh</a> pronunciation, Lankon. The other theory links it to the Talysh word lankran ("cane house").</p>
