<p>It was recently found distinct from the <a href="page.php?w=southern_red_muntjac">southern red muntjac</a> (previously typically known as Indian muntjac) and includes all the population previously attributed to M. muntjak that are outside of <a href="page.php?w=Sundaland">Sunda</a> and perhaps of Malaysia.</p>
