the governor of the Duchy of Cleves. Originally built in the mid-17th century, it served as a residence and a symbol of Johan Maurice's influence in the region. By the late 19th century, the palace was repurposed as a hotel. Unfortunately, it was heavily damaged during World War II and was not reconstructed after the war.
