<p>Host-based management is known as resource tracking, and consists of cleaning up resource leaks: terminating access to resources that have been acquired but not released after use. This is known as reclaiming resources, and is analogous to <a href="page.php?w=Garbage_collection_%28computer_science%29">garbage collection</a> for memory.
