The internal shape may be convergent or <a href="page.php?w=de_Laval_nozzle">convergent-divergent</a> (C-D). C-D nozzles can accelerate the jet to supersonic velocities within the divergent section, whereas a convergent nozzle cannot accelerate the jet beyond sonic speed.</p>
