Politically, the southern end of the <a href="page.php?w=Maule_River">Maule River</a> basin belongs to the Ñuble Region, just as the southern end of the Itata basin belongs to the Biobío Region. In the coastal zone, within the coastal basins between the regional boundary and the Itata River, the Taucú, Cobquecura, and Buchupureo rivers develop.</p>
