<p>Table sugar (sucrose) comes from plant sources. Two important sugar crops predominate: <a href="page.php?w=sugarcane">sugarcane</a> (Saccharum spp.) and sugar beets (Beta vulgaris), in which sugar can account for 12% to 20% of the plant's dry weight.
