<p> The masses of the proton and neutron are known with far greater precision in <a href="page.php?w=Dalton_%28unit%29">dalton</a>s (Da) than in MeV/c2 due to the way in which these are defined. The conversion factor used is 1&nbsp;Da&nbsp;=&nbsp;. At least 1035 years. See <a href="page.php?w=proton_decay">proton decay</a>. For <a href="page.php?w=free_neutron">free neutron</a>s; in most common nuclei, neutrons are stable.</p>

<p>The masses of their antiparticles are assumed to be identical, and no experiments</p><p>
