These dimensions can be freely mixed and matched, but larger dimensions tend to co-occur.

There is a fixed distance of 57.15 mm between the connector's key notch (middle ridge diving data and power) and the end of the card, which may be covered by an end plate with a screw-hole for installing onto the computer case. This fixed length ensures that cards do not protrude out of the chassis.
