<p> Human-generated particulates are often smaller in size (e.g. PM2.5 or PM1), and pose significant threats to human health.</p>

<p>The chemical composition and size of particulates in an aerosol also determine how the aerosol interacts with solar radiation and affects climate. Chemical constituents within an aerosol change its overall <a href="page.php?w=refractive_index">refractive index</a>, determining how much light is scattered or absorbed.</p>
