Heard and McDonald, and Macquarie Islands) lie in the Antarctic Circumpolar Current between 46.4° and 54.6°S. While the climate of these islands is cold and wet with long growing seasons, none of these islands have trees, due to the strong winds of the Roaring Forties and Furious Fifties.
