<p>Much of modern metronome technique aims to resolve timing problems without creating overdependence on the metronome. Typical exercises are to practise maintaining a tempo while the metronome is muted for progressively longer periods of time, or to practise with displaced clicks (offset from the usual downbeats) or <a href="page.php?w=polyrhythm">polyrhythm</a>s against the metronome.</p>
