In the 1950s, <a href="page.php?w=Hans_Kuhn_%28philologist%29">Hans Kuhn</a> argued that the two languages diverged at the Ingvaeonic level, but later "converged". He argued that this convergence explained the striking similarity of the two languages</p><p>
