The channel closed for the final time at 01:20 am on the night of Monday 25 March 2013, and was replaced with BBC Two HD the following day on Tuesday 26 March, partly as a result of budget cuts affecting the entire corporation. New HD versions of the existing BBC channels would launch on 10 December 2013.
