<p>Inman Valley was surveyed in late 1839 by a party under Senior Surveyor N. Lipscomb Kentish, formerly of <a href="page.php?w=Sydney">Sydney</a>, assisted by Surveyor Henry Ide, formerly a corporal in the Royal Sappers & Miners (see <a href="page.php?w=Royal_Engineers">Royal Engineers</a>).
