<p>On December 10, 1959, the station, owned by San Francisco businessman and future <a href="page.php?w=Golden_State_Warriors">San Francisco/Golden State Warriors</a> owner <a href="page.php?w=Franklin_Mieuli">Franklin Mieuli</a>, signed on at 106.9&nbsp;MHz with the KPUP <a href="page.php?w=call_letter">call letter</a>s. It was one of two Bay Area stations to sign on that day: three hours later, <a href="page.php?w=KKDV">KWME</a> in <a href="page.php?w=Walnut_Creek%2C_California">Walnut Creek</a></p><p>
